Spring brings Flowers and Family

Last weekend Kailah and I were able to go down to Huntington Beach and spend some time with my Brother who just came back from Afghanistan and was vacationing with his family in Disneyland.  I haven't seen Paul and his family for at least a couple years! It was so nice to see them and get to squeeze my two nieces who i just adore.  Marianne and Ed joined us for the fun day at the beach too.
 Look at this huge pelican that just came and sat on the pier! we got so close to it!

We went out to dinner with a few couples, one of which has a son just a little older than Kailah. his name is Jack so we got Kailah all dressed up and called it her first chaperoned date.
  We also took a few family pictures before we got to dinner.  We never take pictures of the three of us so I am going to try and take them more often.

This weekend my cousin's little boy turned 3 and we got invited to his party, all superman themed! Jamie did a great job hosting and decorating, it was awesome.
Johnny is such a cutie we love being able to get together with that side of the family. does anyone know what Kailah's relation to Johnny is?  I never know how to say it. are they second cousins? or am i johnnys second aunt?  I don't know???
The party was going so smoothly and all the kids were playing with bubbles on the grass, I look away for two seconds and when I look back Kailah is making her way over to the BBQer, I ran over to her and grabbed her arm to pull her away from the BBQ and she starts screaming! I knew right then that  she got burned but I didn't know exactly where, so i took her over to Jason and as the seconds pass by I can start to see the red mark forming on her shoulder. :(  We immediately iced it and went inside to put aloe on it and get Kailah to stop crying, which she did right away! I was starting to feel really bad and almost starting crying several times. the incident just keeps replaying in my head, cause I was so close to her when it happened and I was a split second too slow at grabbing her, and if I hadn't turned away for those two seconds....aughh.... Luckily Jason didn't say anything that made me feel like he was angry with me since I was the one watching her and it was really my fault.  If it was the other way around I know I would have been so angry with Jason.  The truth is that things like this happen and I hope I am prepared everytime they do cause it is a scary thing. It was good that I was so close to her cause it could have been so much worse!  Luckily my aunt Yolie is a nurse and she was there to assure us that everything was fine and not to rush to the ER and Johnny actually had a similar experience when he was almost 1, so Jamie had all the burn info and knew what antibiotic cream we were supposed to get which was very comforting.
 Here's all the kids playing with bubbles and you can see the black bbqer in the upper right corner of the pic.
This is Kailah AFTER she got burned! happy as can be! like nothing even happened.
After the Party we went to the drug store and while I was there I grabbed some neosporin to go and some barbie band aids to stick in Kailah's  diaper bag just in case, for the future.
Here is her burn yesterday;
And today:
sad huh!!! :(  I hope it doesn't scar.
I am going to call her doctor tomorrow and hopefully we will be able to get in sometime this week to get it looked at. I would have tried to get in sooner if Kailah had been crying and I knew it was painful for her, but since right after it happened she really hasn't complained about it at all. except tonight Jason accidentally ripped off the blister and I ran some water over it to clean it before I put cream on and that really hurt her. poor baby!

  2. What a tought little munchkin! Kids are so resillient. I am sure it is harder for you than it is for her, she probably doesn't even remember it happening at this point and could care less what her arm looks like! No arm modeling for Kailah for the next little bit :)

  3. Ouch! That looks super painful! I am so glad Jason wasn't mad.....that always makes it SO much easier! Recently I completel destroyed our brand new table...on accident...and Jamie was pretty calm about the whole thing. He ended up comforting ME when I started bawling....even though it was my fault! Her burn was totally an accident....so don't beat yerself up about it, girly! It happens to the BEST of parents..(the club YOU belong in). Luvs!!
