4th of July 2011

I love the Fourth of July! The warm summer nights, the bbq'ing, the parade's, the fireworks, the patriotism! One of the best holidays in my opinion!
Unfortunately this year we were not able to do as much as I had hoped, due to my fall and not being able to walk or stand for long periods of time.  All in all it ended up being a really great relaxing 4th.  We woke up early and went to a pancake breakfast at our stake center. Then there was a fair  and car show at the strip mall by our apartments so we went to that for a little bit and let Kailah get in the bouncy play area for a bit and listened to music and got some freebies and by 10:30am It was so hot and I was just exhausted so we went home and planned to go swimming at our pool when The Busch family from the ward called and invited us to go over to their house to swim, so despite being really tired (well ME being really exhausted) we decided to drive up the road and hang out and be social.  They have a few kids around Kailah's age so kailah had a blast with them and just being able to swim with her daddy in the pool made the afternoon so much fun.  Kailah loved having this whole day with us.  After swimming we tried putting her down for a nap thinking she would conk out from being so exhausted but instead she was screaming in delight and kept turning from side to side not being able to fall asleep... She just knew that today was a special day and different from the other days and she was having so much fun.
That night we went to see fireworks in Thousand Oaks, we saw another family we knew from our ward and were able to socialize a bit with them before the fireworks went off.  Kailah was a little scared at first covering her eyes for the fireworks, but as soon as we started talking positively about them she got excited and started telling us about them too, saying the colors, and how loud they were etc..

It was nice to stay close to home for this holiday and have the weekend just to ourselves to do whatever we wanted.  Hopefully next year I can plan a little better and actually do a BBQ for one of the nights, but Jason and I both agreed we enjoyed the relaxation and non stress of the weekend.
