Seriously?!?!?!?

Why would I drive 25 miles (45 mins in traffic) to hospital 'B' when I have a hospital right Here at letter 'C' ???

I have spent the last two days on the phone with my insurance and their medical groups, and the med group doctors, and receptionists, to find a Obgyn that can do a yearly check up for me and deliever my babies when that time comes. And I am about to rip my hair out!  We have a new insurance called Healthnet which is totally different than any other insurance I have ever had. I miss my Kaiser Permanente where you just went to Kaiser doctors and the nearest Kaiser hospital, they were so great! I want to cry just thinking about it!
since we have an HMO plan Healthnet requires me to drive all the frickin way to Simi Valley for my nearest hospital! Only if we pay more money and get a PPO plan can I go to the hospital that is 5 mins from my house.
I can't believe how confussing my insurance is and all the rules they have and all the information they 'didn't know'. I like insurance companies that you can just call up and get a straight answer from. this insurance makes you call a billion other people and medical groups cause they 'don't know'  I didn't even have to deal with medical groups before this. ha! I didn't even know what a medical group WAS before this!

Spring brings Flowers and Family

Last weekend Kailah and I were able to go down to Huntington Beach and spend some time with my Brother who just came back from Afghanistan and was vacationing with his family in Disneyland.  I haven't seen Paul and his family for at least a couple years! It was so nice to see them and get to squeeze my two nieces who i just adore.  Marianne and Ed joined us for the fun day at the beach too.
Look at this huge pelican that just came and sat on the pier! we got so close to it!

We went out to dinner with a few couples, one of which has a son just a little older than Kailah. his name is Jack so we got Kailah all dressed up and called it her first chaperoned date.
We also took a few family pictures before we got to dinner.  We never take pictures of the three of us so I am going to try and take them more often.

This weekend my cousin's little boy turned 3 and we got invited to his party, all superman themed! Jamie did a great job hosting and decorating, it was awesome.
Johnny is such a cutie we love being able to get together with that side of the family. does anyone know what Kailah's relation to Johnny is?  I never know how to say it. are they second cousins? or am i johnnys second aunt?  I don't know???
The party was going so smoothly and all the kids were playing with bubbles on the grass, I look away for two seconds and when I look back Kailah is making her way over to the BBQer, I ran over to her and grabbed her arm to pull her away from the BBQ and she starts screaming! I knew right then that  she got burned but I didn't know exactly where, so i took her over to Jason and as the seconds pass by I can start to see the red mark forming on her shoulder. :(  We immediately iced it and went inside to put aloe on it and get Kailah to stop crying, which she did right away! I was starting to feel really bad and almost starting crying several times. the incident just keeps replaying in my head, cause I was so close to her when it happened and I was a split second too slow at grabbing her, and if I hadn't turned away for those two seconds....aughh.... Luckily Jason didn't say anything that made me feel like he was angry with me since I was the one watching her and it was really my fault.  If it was the other way around I know I would have been so angry with Jason.  The truth is that things like this happen and I hope I am prepared everytime they do cause it is a scary thing. It was good that I was so close to her cause it could have been so much worse!  Luckily my aunt Yolie is a nurse and she was there to assure us that everything was fine and not to rush to the ER and Johnny actually had a similar experience when he was almost 1, so Jamie had all the burn info and knew what antibiotic cream we were supposed to get which was very comforting.
Here's all the kids playing with bubbles and you can see the black bbqer in the upper right corner of the pic.
This is Kailah AFTER she got burned! happy as can be! like nothing even happened.
After the Party we went to the drug store and while I was there I grabbed some neosporin to go and some barbie band aids to stick in Kailah's  diaper bag just in case, for the future.
Here is her burn yesterday;
And today:
sad huh!!! :(  I hope it doesn't scar.
I am going to call her doctor tomorrow and hopefully we will be able to get in sometime this week to get it looked at. I would have tried to get in sooner if Kailah had been crying and I knew it was painful for her, but since right after it happened she really hasn't complained about it at all. except tonight Jason accidentally ripped off the blister and I ran some water over it to clean it before I put cream on and that really hurt her. poor baby!

Kailah Eve 12 months

12 month STATS:
weight- 16pounds 13 ounces less than 3%percentile
height-28 1/4inches 18% percentile (she didn't grow at all since 9 months!)
head- 44cm 18%percentile
Milstones Reached:
-Walking all over the place
-drinking from a sippy cup independently
-feeds herself finger foods
-6teeth, 2bottom- 4top
-says mama, dada, mum-mum, uh-uh (uh-oh)
-claps her hands to the song if your happy and you know it
 About her personality:
Kailah still has a very outgoing personality, she loves playing with other babies and really enjoys going to the park and meeting other babies her size. She loves swinging in the bucket swings and really enjoys being outside. She loves geting dirty at the beach and enjoys watching the waves come in and dipping her feet in the ocean too.
She LOVES balloons! Everytime we are at the store she always sees the balloons before I do, and she ALWAYS gets a balloon from Trader Joes when we go (spoiled!)
Kai really enjoys her baby einstein DVD's and moves back and forth to the music when she hears it. Every time I say 'baby einsteins' she always looks over at the TV and starts walking to it cause she knows im going to put one on for her.  Kailah has mastered walking around by herself, she really likes to pick things up with her as she walks around and take them from place to place, she always acts very accomplished after doing this. I love seeing the things she picks up to try to carry around, things that are WAY to big for her to carry, but somehow she does it.
Kailah has been learning new words, I think the very first one she understood and could say was Mum-mum, we used to give her these rice cakes called mum-mums and she loved them and would always say that when she wanted one.  She also says Dadada dadada. And her latest word is uh-uh(meaning uh-oh).
While I was taking a shower Kailah had gotten into her dirty diapers and when I got out of the shower and went to check on her I was Horrified to see poop smeared on her face and hands. I immediately threw her in the bath and called poison control. apparently if babies eat their own poop it doesn't harm them! Thank goodness! but I wonder how much she ate! Yuck!
Kailah follows me around the house all day long. She loves being in the same room I am in. I think she enjoys following me from room to room cause it gives her somewhere to walk to and something to do instead of just sitting in the same place all day.
When I let Kailah feed herself her meals I always give her a utensil to use too and I always enjoy watching her try and use her utensil and she keeps it in her hand the whole meal. It wont be too much longer til she really knows how to use that spoon like a pro! A lot of times she feeds herself with her left hand so it will be interesting to find out what hand ends up being dominant.
Kai has this doll her grandma gave to her that she now loves to give hugs and carries around with her and she likes to go to sleep with it.  She also has learned how to give all her stuffed animals hugs. She still doesn't understand kisses and does not like them either.
She loves turning the pages of books. anytime I read her a book i can barely get through the first couple words before she wants to flip the page.
At 12 months Kailah has officially stopped nursing and is drinking whole milk from a sippy and eating finger foods. She is a really good eater and will eat pretty much anything you put in front of her. especially banana's, bread, mixed vegis, crackers.
Kailah is still a really good sleeper and sleeps from 8p-7:30a everynight and usually has two naps a day.

Cake Smashing

Since Kailah didn't have cake on her birthday I have been saving the cake until I could take pictures of her smashing it! The cake has been on the Kitchen counter for a couple days and it is torturing Jason, he keeps asking me 'when we are going to cut the cake?', or if he 'can have a piece of cake?', in which i reply, "NO i made the cake for Kailah you can't have any!" He couldn't believe I went through all the effort of making such a great cake, just to have Kailah smash it!
Well Jason Lucked out because, I guess Kailah is just not into smashing! She carefully removed most of the polka dots and I felt like I had to shove her hand in the cake just to get her to dig in! she had much more fun getting up and walking around the room then just sitting and eating cake.
And she is in LOVE with that #1 candle!  The whole reason she was so mad on her birthday is cause she couldn't have that dang candle.  When I gave her the cake today she grabbed the candle and left the cake behind. The whole time I was taking pictures she had that candle squoze tightly in her hand.

Happy 1st Birthday Kailah Eve

We celebrated Kailah's 1st birthday this past saturday.   The planning went smoothly which made for a PERFECT first birthday Party for our little girl.
Kailah was lucky enough to have her gpa&gma Raleigh and Auntie Jen and cousin Maya, come visit from Utah.  We also had family visit for the day from the LA area. Kailah has lots of little friends from church and through mutual friends that were able to come celebrate too! We are so blessed to be surrounded by so many wonderful friends and family who love Kailah.

Well the Cake eating didn't go so well. Kailah wanted the candle and hadn't had a good nap for the days so when daddy pulled away the cake so she wouldn't get the candle, she was NOT happy. Therefore she had no cake on her birthday.

Kailah was SO spoiled with gifts from her guests!

Thank you to everyone who made Kailah's big day SO special!
