Happy 2nd Birthday Kailah!

For her 2nd Birthday, Kailah had a Beach Bash and invited all her little friends to join her for games and fun!  It was chilly on this day at the beach but Kailah still loved running around with a tank top and shorts on.  She had a lot of fun and she totally knew it was HER special day!  She loves opening presents and everytime a package came in the mail for her, she would see it and smile and pick it up all excitingly and say "birthday, two!"  And then she has been singing Happy Birthday to you all week.  Kailah loves to sing!  Today in church she sang all the songs and when the music was over she was still singing, it was so cute to hear!  I love her little sweet voice.
She had a really special birthday, and her big gifts were her "big girl" bed that she absolutely loves! and she will freak out if we even try to put her in her crib.  At night she likes to sleep with all her stuffed animals so we give her, minnie, dolly, doggie, and winkie, and if one is missing she cries until she has it tucked in her covers with her.
She also got a tricycle for her birthday which she hasn't quite been able to master but I know in time she will get how to pedal and make it work.

At Kailah's two year check up she weighed 22lbs and in the 5th percentile and her height was 33inches and in the 5-10th percentile.  I love seeing her growth on the chart.
Her personality is still very silly and sweet, but she has gotten to the phase where she wants to do everything herself and if something isn't right or not cleaned up the way it should be she gets very upset.  People always tell me what a great little girl is, and she is, but I definitely think we are hitting that terrible two stage.   She is still very shy when meeting people for the first time.
Kailah loves to sing and dance around the house.  Going out on the balcony and watching the cars go by and the people walking their dogs is so fun for her.  She loves helping out around the house by helping clean up and throwing things in the garbage and even helping do dishes at times.  She loves to read books and sing songs at night before bed.  She is constantly asking about going to the beach.  She likes to color and ripping the wrappers off the crayons is something she must do to every one!  She loves to talk and mimic momma and dadda.  She walks around holding up anything to her ear and acts like it's a phone and will talk and fake laugh and just be funny!  She likes doing her makeup and hair and painting nails when I am doing it.  Every time we leave the house she always grabs a few toys to take with her.  She is talking so much! She constantly is talking about what we are doing or what we are going to do that day.  She also talks about things that happen that day too.

Our Little Gymnast

Kailah is in Gymnastics with the community center here in Dos Vientos and she loves it!  The first time it took her the whole class time to warm up, and the second time we went she was a pro.  She is the youngest in the class so she is the one that still needs to works on things.  She is really good at the balance beam and can practically do it herself!  She is learning to go sideways on the balance beam and walk forward on it as well.  she does really good hanging on the bar and she loves rolling down like a hot dog on the mat although we are working on her composure for that one.  One thing that she really needs work on right now is learning how to jump.  She does pretty good on the tramp but on the ground she just can not figure out how to put two feet together and jump up!  She was never a jumper even as a baby sitting in her jumperoo that hangs in the doorway, she would sway side to side but she never figured out how to jump in it.  I am hoping being in gymnastics will help her with that.   It has also been a great social thing.  Kailah is very timid and shy when she first meets people.  I was like this when I was little and Jason said he was too (which I kind of find hard to believe but that's what he says.).  So I can see where she gets it from but I wish she could just break out of her shell and be her goofy self all the time.  Being around other children that are unfamiliar on a regular basis I think will help her with her social skills.  Gymnastics also teaches her how to wait her turn and how to take direction and they do a lot of counting and learning colors too.  I am so pleased with the program that she is in.
